Chris Ekonomidis is an accomplished leader in the financial services industry, currently serving as Director of transformation at BNY. With more than two decades of experience, Chris has driven significant initiatives in digital innovation and regulatory compliance. At BNY since 2019, he has spearheaded critical programs such as the Libor Transition, Global Sanctions Uplift, and the T+1 Settlement Transition. Chris is also a respected figure in the global fintech community, holding a board member position at the Center for Financial Professionals since 2018. In this role, he contributes to advancing financial risk management through research, thought leadership and industry collaboration. Previously, Chris was a board member at Rutgers Innovation Education, where he helped shape the Cybersecurity Certificate Program, providing executives with the skills needed to navigate and mitigate cyber risks. His tenure at Rutgers spanned from 2018 to 2021. Before joining BNY, Chris was a senior director at Synechron, where he led the Business Consulting group in North America. His work included advising clients on strategy, risk management and regulatory compliance, with notable projects in model risk management, fraud detection and capital finance modernization. Chris also served as Director of business consulting at Sapient Global Markets from 2009 to 2017. He played a key role in helping clients adapt to market structure changes driven by regulatory reforms such as Dodd-Frank and MiFID II. His earlier career includes roles at Capco, New York Metro ISSA, Ernst & Young LLP, Qualys, and Cybertrust, where he gained extensive experience in risk assessments, compliance and cybersecurity. Chris began his career as a Senior IT administrator at Cybernet Systems Corporation, managing IT infrastructure and security for the organization.
