About the speaker

Dr. Rodanthy Tzani is the Founder of Sphaleron Advisory, and a seasoned Risk and Compliance Advisor specializing in Model Risk Management, AI Governance, and Enterprise Risk for financial institutions, including banks and insurance companies. With over 25 years of experience at the intersection of risk, regulation, and innovation, she is recognized for building and leading robust risk frameworks in complex and evolving environments. She previously served as Head of Model Risk Management at New York Life Insurance Company, where she established the firm’s Model Risk Management function and led the development of its AI Governance framework. Prior to that, she held a leadership role at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where she was responsible for model risk supervision of large domestic and international systemically important financial institutions (SIFIs) across the banking and insurance sectors in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. Earlier in her career, Dr. Tzani was Head of Structured Finance Risk Management at ACA Capital, where she oversaw the restructuring and winding down of the company during the financial crisis. She also served as Vice President in the Derivatives Group at Moody’s Investors Service. Dr. Tzani holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Quantum Physics and has published extensively in both finance and physics.
